In September 2018 meeting in Switzerland to coordinate the HTMi Global Talent Development strategy and practices are: from HTMi Australia; Sara Moreno; from HTMi (Singapore) Aishah Siti; from Hosco, Sophie Navarro; and from HTMi Switzerland Dora Vajda, Daniela Reichmuth and Popa Dan.
Greetings from Barcelona, I hope you are well.
I just wanted to drop you a quick email as I have just come back from visiting HTMi’s Campus last week in Switzerland.
Dora and Dan were exceptional hosts and were extremely helpful and accommodating throughout my stay. The organisation of my stay couldn’t have been better, through the training to the organisation of the different workshops on campus. It was also a great opportunity to meet Aishah and Sara who came so far away for the training of the platform. Meeting them in person has definitely been a great advantage for me to better understand the structure of your network and the different centres located around the world.
My time on campus has also been a real eye opener in terms of the high level of teaching your students have access to and this in no doubt just shows how they are top quality students and future managers that our industry continues to seek. Every single one of your students was extremely welcoming, helpful and made us all feel “at home” at all times. They are true ambassadors!
There has been some great progress made so far and you have a total of 685 students who are now part of HTMi’s network, this is exceptional! We are now moving forward with building a strong community for both your students and alumni.
Thank you again and looking forward to the opportunity of meeting each other in person, whether it is in Barcelona, Switzerland or Singapore.
My name is Husam Mohamed, I am 25 years old from Bahrain. I am a student of HTMi Switzerland, currently an M.i.T student (Manager in Training), and a Management Trainee of The Gulf Hotel Bahrain. I started my hospitality career at Starbucks Coffee Shop when I was 18 years old after I completed my high school, and from that very moment I knew what I wanted to do and where I belong to in my future. I worked for two and a half years at Starbucks, started as a Barista, and I got promoted to Shift Supervisor, I gained a lot of good experience in there, working as a team, managing the employees, delegating tasks, and it made me a much more mature and open-minded person.
After my journey at Starbucks I joined The Gulf Hotel Bahrain as a Management Trainee, The Gulf Hotel is the first 5 Star Hotel at Bahrain, and with this Management Trainee program that they offer to the locals, it offered me in depth training in every single department in the hotel, the trainings made me understand how all the departments are connected to each other and how the hotel runs on daily basis. Also part of the program is that they offer an Hotel Management education course which they fully sponsor us. And that’s how I joined HTMi Switzerland, with the support of The Gulf Hotel, I was able to come here in Switzerland to do my Certificate and Diploma Degree, I started at HTMi with a good background in Hospitality, I was familiar with many of the subjects already, and I was still able to learn a lot during my Certificate and Diploma, HTMi made a more confident person, plus expanded my knowledge and background in the hospitality industry, and during my time at Switzerland, it made me more independent person. I was able to do two internships as well, my first internship was at The Alpina Gstaad 5 Star Luxury Hotel, and my 2nd internship was at The Baur Au Lac 5 Star Luxury Hotel, both of my internships went great and I had a really good experience and learnings at both hotels.
I am currently doing the M.i.T course, and with this course I am able to support and help HTMi on daily basis and expand my knowledge and experience, I am happy to be doing this course, because I am empowered to come up with ideas to make the campus better, manage students, and also working as a team with the other M.i.T’s, and motivating the new and old students at campus.
I hope to get the chance to complete my higher diploma and BSc here in HTMi once I am done with my M.i.T course, and I would like to thank The Gulf Hotel for their continuous support for the past three years, I am proud to represent my country Bahrain and The Gulf Hotel here at HTMi Switzerland. And I would also like to thank HTMi Switzerland Staff and Students for keeping me motivated to do better on daily basis, with excellent learning, and giving me the best experience of my life.
