A Day at Willing Hearts
Well what a week for the students – returning students were involved in welcoming the latest student intake at the beginning of the week and finished up by traveling to ‘Willing Hearts’, a secular non-affiliated charity that is run by volunteers who operate an amazing soup kitchen that prepares and delivers over 5,000 meals daily to over 40 different locations island-wide, every day of the year. This inspirational charity reaches out to help the elderly of the country, the disabled, low-income families, children of single-parent families, poverty-stricken families and struggling migrant workers.
So as part of our company mission and values, we ask students to be involved regularly in community service as this is an opportunity to ‘give back’ to society and our fellow citizens. Therefore on Thursday, the students along with supervisors Miss Shoba and Miss Deepa assisted this charity for the day by preparing ingredients for cooking, packing lunch boxes, cleaning, washing up and general hygiene activities. Exhausted but happy and fulfilled, all agreed that it had been a great, fun day and all felt privileged to have been able to help. Everyone is now looking forward to the next community service event in February, our annual beach-clean day on the East Coast!
